RULES

What are

THE ROAD RALLY RULES?

*This Road Rally is NOT a race.

*Courtesy to ALL is an absolute must. No rude or vulgar behavior or disturbances will be tolerated. Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the Event Chairperson.

*All participants should take personal responsibility for securing all valuables, and personal items.

Please note that Menagerie Park's Horror Hall, Alamogordo Evening Lions Club, Napoleon Web Design & Photography, and it’s volunteers are not responsible for any losses, damages or claims for personal injury or property damages whatsoever during the duration of the Rally.

*A minimum of 2 participants per vehicle is required (a driver and a navigator). Costumes must be worn by both the driver and the navigator. The costumes must cover all private parts. Any indecency will disqualify you before the race and you will not get a refund.

*Cars are allowed a maximum of 4 participants provided the vehicle has a seat belt for each person.

SUVs and buses may have more than 4 participants but should not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended seating capacity and every passenger must obey the New Mexico state’s seat belt laws.

*Driver must be at least 18 or older and must bring their valid driver’s license and proof of car insurance to the event.

* We cannot control the weather. The Rally will be held rain, shine, or snow!!! No refunds will be made.

*The Road Rally will start at 9:30 am on Saturday, June 3rd, 2017.  Check-in is between 9:00-9:30 AM.  Starting location will be at the Alamogordo Washington Ave. Park in the parking lot. (Closest to 1st street)

*Bring:

1. Valid IDs– Driver must bring a Driver’s license and proof of car insurance. (Every participating vehicle in the Road rally must have a current policy of insurance in compliance with New Mexico State Law and that proof of said insurance must be shown the day of the event.

3. Pencil or pen to figure out riddle directions.

4. Fully charged cell phone with internet, photo and video abilities.

5. It is recommended that participants start with a full tank of gas!

6. Vehicles shall follow the clues as closely as possible, observing safe, indicated speeds, as they look for the answers to the questions. The emphasis is on SAFETY, accuracy, observation and FUN.

7. Ask as many questions as you have prior to the race. Do not assume anything. You MAY use a search engine to figure out the clues given.  Only the Navigator can do the search while the driver is in transit.

9. After the group welcome, announcements and any instructions from the Rally Master, the cars will line up and be given a starting riddle and HELP envelope.

10. Upon completion of the course, return your answer sheets and “HELP” envelope to the Rally Master. Your course completion time will be recorded upon receipt.

12. Follow the posted speed limits. Where a speed limit is indicated in the directions follow that speed until you see a posted speed limit sign.

13. In addition to following the driving clues, each team must do an action at the place or business then photograph or video said action and post to your Facebook with a tag to your team member(s ), the association and any group or organization you are working with and to the stop/business you did the action at.

14. The winning team will be selected by the following criteria:

a. Accurate completion time: The Rally Master has driven the route several times prior to the rally obeying all of the speed limits and posted or written instructions. The completion time has been calculating the average of all the prior runs to take into account traffic lights, congestion etc. For every minute greater than or less than the completion time a team will have one point deducted from their score.

b. All actions are documented by photos and or video. You MUST upload your photo or video to your Facebook and tag the above mentioned persons/business.  1 Point each for tagging Menagerie Park's Horror Hall, Alamogordo Evening Lions Club, and Napoleon Fantasy Photos, the route stop and your team member(s). You are given 2 minutes per action. You are given an extra point for tagging a person you were asked to do an action with other than your navigator.

d. The team with the best combined score is the winner.

15. If you get hopelessly lost and have no idea where you are, you may choose to open the “HELP” envelope. Inside this envelope is a phone number to help you get to the Rally Finally. Opening this envelope will disqualify you from receiving the prize but you still get to enjoy the remaining events!

16. ALL “HELP” envelopes (opened or unopened) must be returned upon completion of the race. Lost envelopes will result in a disqualification.
